
Gardasil protects you from four strains of the HPV virus. These are the strains that cause the
most cases of cervical cancer and genital warts. HPV is the most common sexually transmitted
disease. 80% of women are infected by the age of 50.
This vaccine is recommended for females ages 9-26. Why so young? It is better to be
vaccinated before you become sexually active, so you are protected if you are exposed. If you
are already sexually active, and have been exposed to one strain, it will protect you against the
other three strains
Gardasil is given in a series of 3 shots. You can read about common side effects on the
manufacturer's website. You should not receive Gardasil on the same day as other vaccines.
Yes, I recommend getting it. Why? Men don't have any symptoms of the strains that cause
cervical cancer, and condom's don't fully protect against HPV.
Yes, most insurances are covering this. You can verify coverage with your insurance company
before getting the shots.
